Violinist Catherine Cosbey started her violin studies at the age of three in Regina. Since then, Catherine has graced the performing stage with such artists as Erika Raum, Geoff Nuttall, Barry Shiffman, and Alicia Weilerstein. She has studied with Eduard Minevich and Erika Raum. Most recently, Catherine completed her Masters of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Paul Kantor. She continued her studies with Mr. Kantor this summer at the Aspen Festival of Music. In previous summers Catherine has been privileged to participate in the Banff Chamber and Summer Music Sessions, the St. Lawrence String Quartet Seminar, the Domain Forget Chamber Music Programme and the Orford Centre D'Arts program. Catherine continues the contribution to orchestras she began at age fourteen with in Regina Symphony Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Catherine would like to thank the Banff Centre for the use of her 1721 Guidantus violin.
Karen Klassen studied at the Canadian Bible College and the University of Lethbridge before completing her Bachelor of Music (Piano Performance) with Great Distinction at the University of Regina in 1997. Since then her greatest joy has been collaborating with singers and instrumentalists. Over the years she has worked as a studio accompanist for Diana Woolrich as well as for many instrumentalists and groups such as Opera Saskatchewan, Regina Summer Stage, the Elizabethan Singers, and Do-it-with-Class Children’s Musical Theatre Company. Also a Registered Music Teacher, she has a full studio of piano and theory students and has been active as a volunteer with her local Registered Music Teacher’s Association, the Regina Music Festival Association, and Contemporary Showcase. She resides in Regina, Saskatchewan with her husband, Ian Germani, and their two beloved cats, Tosca and Raffy.
